What is a Castle?

What do you think of when you think of a castle? Something medieval, perhaps, fortified with high walls and a moat, protecting those within against the enemies outside its gates.

Or perhaps you think of the covers of those wonderful Gothic mysteries, where a woman runs away from a dark, brooding man who stands in front of the forbidding gray walls of some castle or estate, and you know it's a book you want to read, because--what's in that castle?

I wanted to look inside a castle, too, but I wanted to keep some cozy elements in my story. That's why I created Castle Dark.
